Commemorating the 2023 boycott of Peckham Hair & Cosmetics store. The shop owner was filmed strangling a woman who asked for a refund. The video prompted hundreds of protestors to demonstrate outside the shop for days, leading to its closure.

The shop did eventually reopen and renamed itself Kings & Queens but the solidarity shown by the community was palpable and provoked a wider conversation around violence against black womxn as well as a the lack of black hair shops owned by black communities.

“Rollerskating is escapism and freedom”

We filmed Rae, a young London skater, around peckham for the day. We asked him what skating meant to him.

“I got into rollerskating towards the latter months of 2020 since one of my childhood friends started so I just borrowed his old skates. Rollerskating is escapism and freedom. You leave your thoughts, stresses and everything in between. When those 8 wheels roll you’re a superhero that glides and flows on the floor. With practice and determination you constantly find yourself learning something new and becoming that 1% better than you were the day before”
